Description
Rare Collaboration Jar - Nancy Youngblood (b. 1955) (Santa Clara) AND Russell Sanchez (b. 1963) (San Ildefonso) - Black Vase with Carved Design and Olive Shell Heishi Inclusions c. 2008, 7.25" x 5.25". This pottery is in excellent condition. Signed by Russell Sanchez and Nancy Youngblood on the bottom. The olive shell heishi beads were made by Mary Calabaza. Includes a copy of an old receipt for $28,500, dated September 1, 2009 from Native American Collection, Inc. in Colorado. This is an extraordinary collaboration between two famous contemporary potters. A highly burnished black jar with a tall decorated neck; deeply carved with swirled rib designs. These ribbed rim is classic work done by Nancy Youngblood. Two rows of heishi beads are inlaid around around the neck. The sgraffito and heishi are classic work done by Russell Sanchez.
