Description
John Bucci (Illinois, 1935-2019), with fiberglass body and Fiat chassis with an Abarth 750 engine, retractable headlights, a retractable steering wheel, electrically powered hood cover, oscilloscope and blue leather woven seats. Approximate Height (without windshield): 27 in. x Length: 14 ft. x Width: 65 in. Please contact us for additional photos and information.

This car was exhibited at the Cavalcade of Custom Cars which was an exhibit held at the Transportation and Travel Pavilion at the 1964 New York Worlds Fair. Paul Anka was photographed sitting in it with a caption below "International song star Paul Anka welcomes a bevy of beauties from the Transportation & Travel Pavilion to the Custom Car Cavalcade. Anka is seated in "La Shabbla", one of the masterpieces of the custom auto world. Valued at over $250,000, it was built and is owned by John Buzzi of Chicago, Illinois." It has been listed under various names in promotional material over the years including "Le Shabble" and "Le Shablle". Bucci wrote a description of his Worlds Fair car as having a hand crafted body, styled for super speed, body contour seats for safe comfort, worlds only retractable, collapsible steering system, passenger windshield withdrawn during solo excursions, motor driven electronic computer compartment door, Xenon stroboscopic flash signaler, radar type dynamic engine analyzer, finger-tip computer control panel, concealed ultra-beam illuminating system, stereo tape deck for leisure pleasure, automatic sequencing programmed for spectator display.”
Condition
As Is condition, this show car has a functionality of running off of AC/DC current when in static display mode the car can be hooked up to AC current to perform limited operations ie. opening of hood, extension and retraction of steering wheel and passenger windscreen. Engine turns freely when rotated by hand. Campagnolo rims (one chipped and cracked), one tire split, other tires will hold air. Fiberglass body with various chips, scratches and cracks, chip to end of one tail light, crack and repair to other. Contact us for additional photos or to discuss.
