Description
Original Golden Calf from The Ten Commandments. (Paramount, 1956) This iconic Golden Calf wearing the headdress of Isis is seen in the Mount Sinai sequence, it is handed to Edward G. Robinson who bandies it around his head while exhorting Aaron to build an Egyptian idol to lead the people back to bondage. DeMille maintained the prop, in his office, where it was kept until sold by his grandchildren years after his death in 1959. Previously sold in the Estate of Cecil B. DeMille, Christie's East, October 18, 1988. Truly one of the most exciting film artifacts to ever come to auction, this piece from Cecil B. DeMille's magnum opus is not only an important relic from film history, but a highly significant piece of biblical iconography. Constructed of cast resin and measures 10 in. long x 10 in tall.
