PHOTOGRAPH AND LETTER GROUPING FROM A GRAF ZEPPELIN

Lot 1404 Details

Description
Great grouping of 30 photographs and photo postcards owned by Graf Zeppelin mechanic Josef Braun, including a group photograph of the flight crew of the Graf Zeppelin, with flight commander Dr. Hugo Eckener shown at center and Braun himself being identified on the face in black ink. Additional photographs show a young man in a crew uniform, likely Braun, as well as multiple aerial photographs taken from the airship; many of these aerial images bear identifying inscriptions on the verso, including images of Puerto Rico, Seville, Rio de Janeiro, Hammerfest, Cape Verde, the Azores Islands, Pernambuco, etc. Some photo postcards, with some untranslated inscriptions in German on the verso, are also included. Some images a bit faded, else very good condition. WITH: A.L.S. from Braun to a 'Willi Schied', 2pp. 4to., Friedrichshafen, July 26, [n.y.], largely untranslated, yet notably mentions the ship's travel to South America and Rio de Janeiro. Slight mailing folds, else fine. With transmittal envelope.
