Description
Western Europe, Medieval Period, ca. 11th to 14th century CE. An interesting medieval iron blade, perhaps a knife, with the tang and end cap intact. The blade is a broad leaf shape and tapers to a rounded tip. The edges are thick and appear to never have been sharpened; perhaps this was unfinished or meant for another purpose other than a knife. The surface is coated in a rich and dark patina. Size: 12.625" L x 2" W (32.1 cm x 5.1 cm)
Provenance: ex-estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA acquired before 2000
