LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. – Rago Arts and Auction Center’s Coins and Currency Auction on Aug. 24 brought $319,674 in sales. Of the 459 lots of rare and ancient coins and currency, early American coppers, including a 1838 Matron Head large 1 cent coin, were among the highest performing. Previously undervalued in the market, these early copper coins are gaining interest within the budding young numismatic community. NEW YORK – Jools Holland Rhythm and Blues Orchestra drummer and artist Gilson Lavis, who was also the original drummer for British band Squeeze, will be in New York City for a series of events to coincide with his debut NYC art exhibit “Gilson Lavis: In Tune With the Portraits” at Salomon Arts Gallery, 83 Leonard Street in Tribeca from September 15 through October 5, 2017.
