1902 $100 banknote, $24,000, Case Antiques
A rare 1902 $100 banknote from the First National Bank of Nashville, depicting the American financier John J. Knox, graded 12/Fine, sold for $24,000 at an auction held Oct. 21 by Case Antiques Auction in Knoxville, Tenn. Also, an 1882 note from the First National Bank of Salinas (Calif.), graded 20/Very Fine, fetched $7,424; and a U.S. $2 silver certificate (Educational), with portraits of Samuel Morse and Robert Fulton, 64/Choice Uncirculated, went for $5,040. Prices include the buyer’s premium.
Zsolnay pottery: lush colors, exotic design
NEW YORK – Renowned for its vibrantly decorated art pottery in the Islamic aesthetic, beautifully crafted in hues of metallic glitter, green, purple and every color of the rainbow, the Zsolnay factory began making modest wares but within 20 years, as its artistic and technical skills grew, it garnered international attention at the Vienna World’s Fair in 1873.
Museum seeking to sell Rockwell art wants swift legal action
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) – A museum that was blocked from selling 40 works of art, including two by Norman Rockwell, is urging an appeals court to let the case quickly proceed to trial.

O’Keeffe’s ‘Desert Abstraction’ finds forever home at NM museum
SANTA FE, N.M. – In honor of the New Mexico Museum of Art Centennial year celebration, the Museum of New Mexico Foundation made permanent its long-term loan of Georgia O’Keeffe’s Desert Abstraction (Bear Lake) to the Museum. With this move, the 1931 O’Keeffe piece, becomes part of the Museum of Art’s permanent collection. The painting is currently on display in the Governor’s Residence.
