DOUGLASS, Kan. – Woody Auction celebrated the grand opening of their new Douglass auction hall with a major antique and fine art auction on Saturday, Feb. 24, one that featured four oil paintings by renowned Swedish-born Kansas painter Birger Sandzén (1871-1946), plus outstanding collections of Royal Bayreuth, Daum Nancy, Galle, Tiffany, Pairpoint, art glass and period American furniture. Identifying and dating collectible postcards

During the Golden Age of postcards (1907-1915) incredibly talented artists created enduring images, from realistic and adorable depictions of children to fantasy images such as fairies and gnomes. This rare set of six Butterfly Girls from the Detroit Publishing Co. in 1907 was created by American artist Samuel L. Schmucker, who was famous for his exquisite depictions in the Art Nouveau style. This complete set in good condition can sell in the $1,500 to $1,800 range.
