‘Tutti Fruiti’ Cartier bracelet, $1.34 million, Sotheby’s

A magnificent “Tutti Fruiti” bracelet by Cartier, created circa 1930, sold for $1.34 million in an online auction held April 24-28 by Sotheby’s in New York City. The Art Deco jewel had never before appeared at auction, having been passed down through descendants of an American family for more than 30 years. Pursued by five bidders, the bracelet far surpassed its estimate of $600,000-$800,000. It was the highest price for any jewel sold at auction in 2020, at any auction house.

Mega lunar meteorite offered for private sale

LONDON – Christie’s is offering for private sale the lunar rock  NWA 12691. It is among the largest known pieces of the Moon in existence. Moon rock is among the rarest substances on Earth, with less than 650 kg. of lunar meteorites known to exist.  This example is the fifth-largest piece of the Moon on Earth, larger than any returned by the Apollo program. Valued in the region of £2 million (US$2.5 million), the specimen is available for immediate purchase via Christie’s Private Sales.

Rare Keith Haring artwork unframed, photo’d prior to May 2 auction

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Think back to the mid-’80s. You or somebody you know probably had a shirt from the Pop Shop emblazoned with Keith Haring’s “radiant baby” across the chest. Haring’s instantly recognizable symbols made him an icon of art and social awareness. He was on everything from the subways of New York City to the Berlin Wall and featured in galleries around the world. One such gallery was the Galleria Lucio Amelio in Naples, Italy. Commemorating his 1983 exhibition, Haring produced the “Lucio Amelio” suite of lithographs. As a personal gift, Haring presented Amelio with three paintings, one of which will be auctioned on May 2.
