NEW YORK – Karl Bodmer: North American Portraits, an exhibition on view at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from April 5 through July 25, 2021, will present a compelling visual response to Native North America through watercolors created in the 1830s by the Swiss draftsman Karl Bodmer (1809–1893). Bodmer was one of the most accomplished and prolific European artists to travel the Missouri River, and one of the first to document both the landscapes of the American interior and its Indigenous peoples.  SOUTHAMPTON, Pa. – This year’s edition of Stephenson’s popular Spring Decorative Arts Auction will be held on Friday, April 9, with absentee and Internet live bidding available exclusively through LiveAuctioneers. The 451-lot sale features both fine and decorative art, Tiffany and other American silver, an outstanding selection of jewelry, more than 120 lots of furniture, including coveted Midcentury Modern productions; and many other treasures for collectors to discover. The great majority of items set to cross the auction block were sourced from Philadelphia and other Mid-Atlantic estates and collections.
