CHICAGO – Hindman‘s second Dining at Home auction will take place on April 29. It will offer more than 500 lots of silver and porcelain tableware, stemware, and decorative objects to make your living space that much more pleasant. Pieces by leading brand names include Georg Jensen, Lalique, Baccarat, Tiffany & Co., and Buccellati, to name just five. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

Several tea and coffee services appear in the sale, but perhaps the most visually striking example is a Tiffany & Co. silver gilt four-piece coffee service that dates to circa 1950. Bands of swags decorate each component of the set, which include a coffee pot, a creamer, a covered sugar pot, and a tray that measures 13 1/2in in diameter. The Tiffany service carries an estimate of $2,000-$3,000.

Other notable items of tableware from the 20th century include a set of 26 Lalique Ange glasses. Each glass stands 8 inches tall and the impressively expansive set is estimated at $1,500-$2,500.

Pieces by Royal Copenhagen figure in the sale as well. Leading the group is a set of 11 Flora Danica teacups and saucers. The jaunty group, which is liberally decorated with gilt, is estimated at $3,000-$5,000.

Another must-have brand, Georg Jensen, is ably represented by a circa 1920 silver covered tureen, estimated at $10,000-$20,000. Shedding some light on things is a trio of Baccarat molded glass five-light candelabra, dating to the 20th century and estimated at $3,000-$5,000.

Inspiring thoughts of summer is an 104-piece Dodie Thayer lettuceware dinner set, estimated at $2,000-$4,000. Commissioned from Thayer by Dede Fornengo, it consists of 14 dinner plates, 14 salad plates, 13 bread plates, 14 soup bowls, 10 fruit bowls, seven coffee cups, eight teacups, eight saucers, four salt or pepper shakers, two candlesticks, a two-handled sugar bowl, a creamer, an oblong serving plate, a spoon rest, a covered tureen with under plate, a large serving bowl, a salt cellar with spoon, and a large round serving platter that measures 19 inches in diameter.
