Charleston’s finest estate antiques headline March 25 auction

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Estate Auctions will present a live online auction through LiveAuctioneers on March 25, starting at 1 p.m. Eastern Time. The auction offers rare Asian antiques, fine art, exceptional sterling silver and collectibles from notable Southern collections.

The event is highlighted by two Tiffany inspired lamps — one with a Wisteria shade; the other with a Dragonfly shades — as well as original art by John Winslow and Robert Steinem; Buccellati sterling, a Tiffany Edwardian 14K gold purse, and a significant collection of Chinese, Japanese and Korean antiques and collectibles. Charleston Estate Auctions offers in-house shipping on most small items within the United States.

Lot 156, a stunning Edwardian-era sapphire and 14K gold-mesh purse by Tiffany & Co., features an etched ornate frame with nine inset sapphires and is crowned by a sapphire cabochon thumb push. It has a fancy link chain and is marked Tiffany & Co. Estimate $8,000-$10,000.

Entered as Lot 161, “The Apple Tree” is an original oil painting by noted Washington D.C., artist John Winslow (b. 1938-). Estimate: $6,000-$8,000

A large and fine older carved-jade dragon, Lot 138, is heavily veined in blood red. Its details include the dragon’s teeth, tongue and scales, as well as ocean waves. The dragon clutches the elusive pearl of wisdom in its claws. Estimate $5,000-$7,000.

Lot 100 is a Robert Steinem oil on canvas titled “Migration Time.” It was painted in 2004 and is signed, titled and dated by the artist on verso. Estimate $4,000-$6,000.

An exceptional Tiffany-inspired Wisteria lamp features a shade of hand-cut pieces of stained glass wrapped in fine copper foil. The bronze base has an exquisite tree trunk design to accent the Wisteria shade. Estimate $1,500-$2,000.
