MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – A pair of large gilded torchiere lamps has made a journey thousands of miles to its new home in Ireland. Fit for a palace, the French Art Nouveau-style lamps sold at The Benefit Shop Foundation Inc. auction Oct. 23 for $3,520 to a LiveAuctioneers bidder.

The vintage torchieres came out of a fine home in New Canaan, Conn., where they had held pride of place for decades, grandly flanking the front doors in a palatial entryway.

Standing 115 inches tall, the two-tiered lamps have 12 arms each with S and C scroll acanthus leaf designs, carved marble bases and a Corinthian-style center column.
