GENESEO, N.Y. – Cottone Auctions‘ Art & Antiques sale, which took place on November 2 and 3, was led by a Duffner & Kimberly Poppy hanging light fixture that sold for $72,000.

The alluring piece came from the original interior of the Hilltop Mansion in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the former residence of Swann Hartwell, and the lamp was subsequently acquired by the Raphaelian family in the 1940s.

Standouts within the category of estate jewelry included a ladies’ 3.81-carat diamond and emerald ring, which achieved $40,800. It sported an 18K gold setting and the diamond had a princess cut. A German silver gilt heraldic lion cup highlighted the silver lots, selling for $3,900.

The selection of 20th-century paintings and prints featured a collection of works by Clyde Singer (American, 1908-1999), a Regionalist artist from Malvern, Ohio. The top performer among the works, consigned from a Buffalo, New York collection, was Singer’s Court Room Scene, which earned $3,300.

Other notable pieces in the category include King Street, Rockport, Mass, an Emile A. Gruppe oil on canvas that realized $5,700; and a work by John Von Wicht (German, 1888-1970), Ghost Hill, which issued from a private Upstate New York institution and achieved $6,600.
