Extraordinary engagement ring tops $193K at Kodner Galleries

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – Kodner Galleries’ auction May 1 realized $1.1 million, with jewelry leading the way. The auction featured the former inventory of a local South Florida-based supplier to jewelry and industrial manufacturers that included precious metals, coins, loose stones and an exceptional collection of estate and contemporary jewelry. Fine art and collectibles added to the typical Kodner auction mix. Absentee and Internet live bidding was available through LiveAuctioneers.

The highlighted lot of the evening, Lot 72, was a GIA certified 9.02 carat rectangular brilliant cut diamond, platinum and 18K yellow gold engagement ring (above). Accented with two GIA certified 1.02 carat triangular brilliant cut fancy yellow diamonds, this beautiful ring sold to an enthusiastic floor bidder at $193,600.

Among the fine selection of estate diamond jewelry drawing the attention of gallery and Internet bidders was Lot 57, a stunning 82.0 carat multicolor three-strand diamond necklace, selling at $58,800, and Lot 58, a 36.0 carat diamond Riviera necklace (below), selling at $84,700.

Two fantastic pairs of Art Deco diamond and platinum earrings, Lots 61 and 62, brought $24,200 and $45,980 respectively.

Precious metals lots included two 100-ounce palladium bars, five 100-ounce silver bars, 30 1-ounce palladium coins and ingots, bag lots of mixed coins and silver pellets and a single gold coin for good measure, selling for a total of $359,700.

Numerous single and tray lots of precious and semiprecious gemstones, fashion watches and costume jewelry lit up the phones and Internet platforms with every lot selling far above the high estimates. The numerous lots contained emeralds, citrines, a huge 200+ carat amethyst, coral, amber, jade, lapis, agate, hardstone and turquoise.
