Harry Winston platinum and diamond ring rocked Doyle Fine Jewelry auction
NEW YORK – Jewelry sales at Doyle continue to surpass expectations at all levels of value. Auctions of Important Jewelry on April 27 and Fine Jewelry & Luxury Handbags on April 26 saw determined bidders from across the country and around the world drive exceptional prices throughout both sales, sending the week’s total past $6 million.
The April 27 auction showcased a number of dazzling diamond rings, highlighted by a Harry Winston platinum and diamond ring that achieved $252,000, far surpassing its estimate of $120,000-$180,000. Consigned by the estate of Joan Reynolds Linclau, the ring featured a sparkling emerald cut diamond of 8.24 carats, G color and SI1 clarity.
Other notable results include a jade bead necklace of exceptional color from a private collection in Boston, Massachusetts that soared past its $30,000-$50,000 estimate to realize $138,600. A platinum and diamond riviere necklace by Tiffany & Co. from the estate of Lila Kommerstad more than doubled its $30,000-$50,000 estimate, earning $113,400. And a colorful turquoise, diamond and sapphire bib necklace by Van Cleef & Arpels, France from the estate of a New York artist more than tripled its $20,000-$30,000 estimate to achieve $100,800.
