LONDON – Christie’s Handbags & Accessories Online: The London Edition auction that closed today totaled £2,605,250 / $3,441,535 / €2,899,643, which surpassed presale estimates. The sell-through rate reached of 96% by lot. View the fully illustrated catalog on LiveAuctioneers.

The top items of the sale were lots 112 and 113, two rare Hermès Matte White Himalaya Niloticus Crocodile Birkin with Palladium Hardware, 2020 (estimate: £60,000-$80,000), which each realized £137,500 / $181,637 / €153,038.

Additional strong prices were achieved for custom pieces, including lot 80, a Shiny Bleu Électrique & Gris Tourterelle Alligator Sellier Kelly 28 with Brushed Palladium Hardware (estimate: £35,000-$40,000), which sold for £62,500 / $82,563 / €69,563. Lot 127, a rare Louis Vuitton Zinc Explorer Trunk, dated from the 1890s, realized £43,750 / $57,794 / €48,694. These iconic designs by Vuitton, which included the utilization of new lightweight materials and technologies, propelled the trunk maker to be recognized as the leader in the luxury travel market in the early 19th century.

Bidders from 40 countries, across five continents participated in the auction.
