Interior designer Cliff Fong’s collection commands $820K at Bonhams

LOS ANGELES – On March 14, CURATED | The Collection of Cliff Fong achieved incredible results at Bonhams in Los Angeles, earning $820,000 overall with 100% sold by value.
The sale presented 151 select works of art and design from interior designer Cliff Fong’s 1953 ranch-style house in central Los Angeles.
Fong is known for pairing important 20th-century furniture, fine art and vintage finds to create environments with a precise subtlety rooted in the strength of his vision. Items featured in the sale include museum-quality works from artists such as Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Jeanneret, Dan Johnson and Jean Prouve.
Highlights of the sale include:
A wooden cabinet by Charlotte Perriand (1903-1999) and Pierre Jeanneret (1896-1967), which achieved $58,000, and a circa-1949 armoire by Jean Prouve (1901-1984) realized $57,000.
An applique a trois bras fixes light designed in 1953 by Serge Mouille (1922-1988) sold
for $29,000.
A buffet from Cite Cansado won $57,000, and a three-legged free form pine table by Perriand earned $51,000. In addition, a circa-1955 gazelle dining table by Dan Johnson (1918-1979) brought $20,000.
Among the art choices, Not for Deposit, an oil painting by Vern Blosum (1936-2017), rose to $38,000, and a 2002 Wolfgang Tillmans (b. 1968-) print, Shiny Shorts, sold for $28,000.
