NEW YORK – A pair of bronze mounted agate urns topped Capo Auction Fine Art and Antiques sale Aug. 26 selling to an online bidder through LiveAuctioneers for $4,250.
More decorative arts followed with an urn-shaped gilt bronze-mounted crystal clock and a floral-decorated Asian cabinet selling for $4,200 apiece.
The gilt bronze mounted crystal clock was decorated with a pair of female term figures, together with a pair of matching urns. The clock, which stood 17 ½ inches tall, had many online bidders competing.
The Asian cabinet featured a rectangular top over two two-door cabinets with stylized floral decoration, above four short drawers, bracket feet.
Another leading lot was a large 19th-century Italian gilt wood chandelier having nine scrolled arms, three decorated with a Theban sphinxes. It sold for $3,300.
A pair of Karl Springer single-light lamps, cylindrical in form and having a gun metal finish, sold for $2,400.
A Russian silver and enamel letter opener of gilt silver knife with a cobalt blue enamel handle and a blackamoor terminal sold for $1,680. It was marked 88 and “Faberge” in Cyrillic script.
In the art arena, Capo Auction featured an after Pablo Picasso L’Attente, Margot (from the Barcelona Suite) offset lithograph, 1966, for $2,520.
