Esslingers Bock Quart Cone Top Can, $51,000 ($62,830 with buyer's premium) at Morean Auctions.

Near-record price achieved for Esslingers Bock quart cone top can at Morean

BRIMFIELD, MA — Morean Auctions had a near-world record price for a vintage beer can at its April 7 Exotic Beer Cans & Breweriana sale. Complete results are available at LiveAuctioneers.

The vintage beer can and breweriana market continues to show great demand from collectors, as dozens of cans sold for four figures (or higher) throughout the sale. The top lot was an Esslingers Bock quart cone top can dating to the 1930s. Brewed by Esslingers Inc. of Philadelphia, the can was manufactured by American Can Company. As noted by auctioneer Dan Morean in his classic style, “INCREDIBLE CAN! This is a Grail label for many collectors and may be the only chance in a lifetime to obtain an example this fine. It is the best known example.”

Bidders agreed, taking only four steps to jump from $75 to the final hammer of $51,000 ($62,220 with buyer’s premium). In February, Morean sold a Perone Beer quart cone top can for $51,500 ($62,830 with buyer’s premium),  which was confirmed as a world-record price for a vintage beer can by Morean.
