LAMBERTVILLLE, N.J. – Rago Auctions’ Nov. 30 and Dec. 2 jewelry auctions brought in a total of $2.4million in sales for 147 consignors, increasing Rago’s 2018 jewelry sales by 24 percent over 2017 while retaining a stellar sell-through rate above 90 percent. Absentee and Internet live bidding was available through LiveAuctioneers.This 1103 lot, two-day sale included 636 lots of reserved fine jewelry selling for $2,105,313 and 467 lots selling unreserved for $298,175. The auctions attracted more than 1,000 registered bidders online, 113 phone bidders, 109 in-room and 82 absentee bidders. Approximately 20 percent of property sold online, 20 percent to absentee bidders, 30 percent to in-room bidders and 30 percent to phone bidders from the U.S. and abroad.
Among the top lots:
– Lot 2518, a 6.43-carat Tiffany & Co. Lucida diamond ring (above) which sold for $187,500.
– Lot 2474, a 10.35-carat Marquise brilliant cut diamond engagement ring (below) which sold for $68,750 against a high estimate of $25,000.
– Lot 2392, a Seaman Schepps multi-gem and diamond “Garden” bracelet which sold for $31,250.
– Lot 2174, a fine Art Deco Cartier diamond and enameled yellow gold table box.
– Lot 2003, a Tiffany & Co. Gold Japanesque pendant brooch which soared past its high estimate of $4,000 on the way to $10,000.
