NEW YORK – A savvy bidder set his sights high in a Jasper52 Americana and folk art auction Aug. 6 and claimed a 1930s leaping stag weather vane for $3,300. Absentee and Internet bidding in this online-only auction was available through LiveAuctioneers.
The elegant stag was appreciated for its unusual form and excellent proportion. Its copper body – free of holes or damage – sported a mellow patina and iron antlers. It was mounted on an iron stand that measured 31 inches long by 4 inches wide – the perfect trophy piece ready to display on a mantel.
