Tiffany & Co. diamond ring rocked Doyle jewelry auction
NEW YORK – Jewelry sales at Doyle in all levels of value continue to surpass expectations, and the auction of Fine Jewelry & Important Jewelry on June 23 was no exception. With competitive bidding, the sale totaled $2,271,911, far above its collective estimate of $1,266,000-$1,831,900, with an exceptional 96% sold by lot and 100% by value.
The sale showcased luxurious creations spanning the antique, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Modern eras and coming from the world’s most prestigious makers, including Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Oscar Heyman, JAR and Tiffany & Co., as well as fine watches by Audemars Piguet, Rolex and Breguet.
Highlighting the auction was a group of high carat weight diamond and colored stone rings, all of which sold above estimate. The top lot of the day was a Tiffany & Co. diamond ring weighing 3.16 carats, with F color and VVS1 clarity. It achieved $88,200, surpassing its estimate of $50,000-$70,000.
