#1 issues showcased in no-reserve comics auction Sept. 20

Ms. Marvel is the name of several fictional superheroes appearing in titles published by Marvel Comics. The character was originally conceived as a counterpart to Captain Marvel. Her first identity was Carol Danvers, who first appeared in Marvel Super-Heroes #13 (March 1968).
She resurfaced in Ms. Marvel #1 (January 1977). As Ms. Marvel, Danvers becomes a mainstay of the superhero team The Avengers, beginning in The Avengers #171 (May 1978). The Ms. Marvel title ended with #23 in April 1979. The Ms. Marvel #1 copy offed in the auction (above) is graded VG-.
A member of Batman’s rogues’ gallery, the brutal but intelligent villain known as Bane made his debut in Batman: Vengance of Bane #1 in January 1993. The issue featured in the auction (below) is graded FN/VF.
Marvel unveiled Crypt of Shadows #1 in January 1972, when comic books still cost only 20 cents. This horror genre title lasted 21 issues before ending in November 1975.
Marvel pulled the plug on Worlds Unknown after only eight issues in August 1974. It debuted in May 1973. The copy of Worlds Unknown No. 1 in the auction is in VG+ condition.
OMACs are a type of cyborg appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. The original series debuted as OMAC #1 in September/October 1974 and continued for eight issues ending in November/Decembe 1975. DC Comics has revived and updated the concept.
