MT. CRAWFORD, Va. – Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates will hold a special collections glass auction on Saturday, March 18, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time. The two-owner sale will comprise the collections of Paul Harvey of Naples, Florida, and Bryan Grapentine of Phoenix, Arizona. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

The renowned Harvey collection consists of over 400 open salts primarily from the pressed lacy period spanning roughly 1827 to 1845. Highlights include a rare CD-4 Lyre covered salt in opaque soft violet blue with subtle mottling (Lot 37). This Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. product is one of only seven recorded, including specimens in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Corning Museum of Glass. This example was acquired by Harvey from Jeffrey S. Evans on May 19, 2006, lot 1001 for $34,100, a record price for a lacy salt.

Other important lacy salts include a possibly unique Sandwich BT-7 “Lafayet” steamboat in an unlisted fiery opalescent to opaque mottled light to medium blue (Lot 43), and a deep amber EE-3a Eagle and Shield (Lot 96), one of only three recorded examples.

“It has been a real pleasure cataloging these two premier glass collections. We have sold many pieces to both Paul and Bryan over the past 20 years and it is nice to have the opportunity to handle them again,” said Jeffrey S. Evans, company president and senior glass specialist.
