LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. – On Saturday, Oct. 26, and Sunday, Oct. 27, the Rago Arts and Auction Center will hold its auctions of Early 20th Century Decorative Arts and Modern Design. The auction will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern both days and LiveAuctioneers.com will provide Internet live bidding.

Early 20th century decorative arts will be sold Saturday in 399 lots. Included will be ceramics by Van Briggle, Fulper, Teco, Tiffany and Rookwood, plus a selection of grotesque tobacco jars by the Martin Brothers, and work by the Mad Potter of Biloxi, George Ohr. Furniture will include pieces by Gustav Stickley, L. & J.G. Stickley, Stickley Brothers, Roycroft, Limbert, Brooks and Robert “Mouseman” Thompson, including a rare and early bow-arm Morris chair and fine hexagonal library table by the firm of Gustav Stickley. Art glass to be sold is by Tiffany Studios, Lalique, Muller Freres, Thomas Webb & Sons, Galle and Decorchemont among others. Hammered copper by Roycroft and Gustav Stickley, silver by Liberty & Co. and Gorham will also be auctioned.

Studio ceramics, glass and jewelry will follow the early 20th century items on Saturday. The more than 300 lots will include a selection of Scheier pottery, encaustic paintings, sculptures and ephemera. Also featured are ceramics by Michael Lucero, Peter Voulkos, Hans Coper, Rose and Erni Cabat, Robert Turner, Don Reitz, Rudy Autio and Toshiko Takaezu; works of glass by Lino Tagliapietra, Dale Chihuly, Bertil Vallien, Richard Marquis, Michael Glancy, Harvey Littleton and Paolo Venini; and jewelry by Margaret de Patta, Antonio Pineda, Art Smith, Elsa Freund and Sam Kramer.

Nearly 700 lots of modern design will be sold Sunday. Fine furniture will include pieces by George and Mira Nakashima, Tommi Parzinger, Paul Evans, Vladimir Kagan, Gio Ponti, Pedro Friedeberg, Wendell Castle and Silas Kopf. Important sculptures by Isamu Noguchi and Harry Bertoia will be sold. Also in the lineup are Scandinavian wares designed by Finn Juhl, Hans Wegner, Poul Kjaerholm, Greta Grossman, Alvar Aalto, Borge Mogensen and Bruno Mathsson, and ceramics by Pablo Picasso at Madoura, Jean Mayodon, Georges Jouve, Gio Ponti, Guido Gambone and Salvatore Meli. Lamps by Jacques Adnet, Arredoluce, Agostini, Royere, Lacroix, Newson and Brandt will also be sold along with silver by Josef Hoffmann, Georg Jensen, Gio Ponti, Raymond Loewy and Jens Quistgaard.
