RICHMOND HILL, Ontario – On January 17, 888 Auctions will be ushering in the new year with 418 fresh-to-market items showcasing fine art, paintings and Asian antiques. After a successful year in 2018, even more quality pieces will be offered as the auction house features items from an increasing number of clients and collections. The auction will begin at 2 p.m. Eastern Time, with absentee and Internet live bidding through LiveAuctioneers.
Lot 28, a French oil on canvas attributed to Jacques Bouyssou is the star lot of the auction. Featuring a French Impressionist city landscape scene, it is expected to exceed its high estimate of $5,000.
Another fine art piece gaining significant attention is Lot 36, a French Cubist oil on canvas attributed to Georges Braque (French, 1882-1963). It has a high estimate of $6,000.
Two other lithographs are among the highlights: Lot 45, a Spanish Cubist lithograph EA attributed to Picasso; and Lot 72, a French lithograph artist’s proof EA attributed to Marc Chagall. The lithos carry high estimates of $3,500 and $4,000, respectively.
