BIRMINGHAM, U.K. – A limited-edition Omega Speedmaster that was created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of AC Milan will be offered at Fellows Auctioneers. The watch will appear as lot 44 in the auction house’s Luxury Watch Sale scheduled for Monday, September 19, estimated at £1,800-£2,600. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.
Omega released the watch in 1999 on the 100th anniversary of the historic Italian football club in a limited edition of 1999 to tie in with the historic year. This piece is no. 1586 of 1999.
The Speedmaster measures 39mm (about 1.5in). It has a black dial and a matching tachymeter bezel, with subsidiary recorder dials to three, six and nine. Above the hour counter at six in red text are the centenary years of 1899-1999.
The case back is adorned with a football motif, the words 100 Milan 1899-1999 and the edition number. The watch is fitted to a signed black leather strap and is sold with an additional bracelet and a NATO-style strap.
Kes Crockett from the Fellows watch department said: “The Omega Speedmaster is a design classic and this limited-edition example celebrating the 100-year anniversary of AC Milan is extra special. It will appeal to Omega collectors and Italian football fans alike and should attract enthusiastic bidding on auction day.”
