Alderfer’s Feb. 23 ‘Art for a Cause’ auction to benefit NJ library
FLEMINGTON, N.J. – Join Alderfer Auction for a one-of-a-kind day of art and giving in support of the Hunterdon County library in Flemington, New Jersey. The proceeds from this exciting online art auction, taking place Thursday, February 23 at 10 am Eastern time, will go directly to the library, providing access to educational resources and a love of learning for the community. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.
The entire collection, which was donated to the library by a single benefactor, features a diverse selection of works by some of the art world’s most renowned names. From seasoned collectors to those simply looking for a unique piece to display at home, this is an opportunity not to be missed.
Prominent artists in the auction include Arthur Roy Mitchell, a modernist known for his bold use of color. He is represented in the sale by an undated oil on canvas of a lone cowboy astride his horse, which is estimated at $2,000-$3,000. Also featured is C Jac Young, known for his tonalist winter landscapes such as Poet Hills, an undated work that carries an estimate of $3,000-$5,000. Another standout is Georges Braque, a pioneer of the Cubist movement, who contributes Le Viaduc de la Estaque, a signed and numbered aquatint and engraving estimated at $800-$1,200.
Other artists whose works appear in the February 23 sale lineup are Kathe Schmidt Kollwitz, a German artist and printmaker; Hans Erni, a Swiss artist and graphic designer; and Maximilien Luce, a Neo-Impressionist whose works often depicted everyday life.
Alderfer Auction will open its doors for a special sale preview on Wednesday, February 22 from 4-7 pm Eastern time as a community event, offering a showroom filled with artwork consigned to support the Hunterdon County Library. Refreshments will be provided free of charge, and representatives from two Girl Scout troops will be present, serving cookies and milk. Girl Scout Cookies will also be available for purchase. Additionally, a designated bin will be provided from the Bean Bag Food Donation for collection of non-pershibles to support local families and children in need. Free valuations are offered to the public by appointment. This event will take place at 501 Fairgrounds Road in Hatfield, Pennsylvania.
