LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. – On Saturday, June 9, Rago Auctions will offer more than 40 investment quality collectibles across a wide swathe of interests: sports collectibles and cards, historical and political memorabilia, aerospace memorabilia, vintage movie posters, fountain pens, and weapons and militaria, culminating with a 1793 Treasury Letter penned and signed by Alexander Hamilton. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.
The one-page handwritten Hamilton letter (above) is dated Dec. 16, 1793, and regards matters of the U.S. Mint. Hamilton, a Founding Father, served as Secretary of the Treasury from 1789 to 1795.
Additional highlights are a 1949 Jackie Robinson Bowman baseball card, a 1935 movie poster for the Marx Brothers’ A Night at the Opera (below), and several limited-edition fountain pens by Cartier, Montblanc, Dupont and more.
“This is a compact, but choice grouping across collectible categories,” said Chris Wise, director of Rago’s Collectibles Department. “From baseball cards to correspondence from one of America’s Ffounding Fathers, bidders will find property suitable for distinguished personal collections.”
Printed catalogs are available at the auction house, by calling 609-397-9374 or by emailing a request to info@ragoarts.com.
