NEW YORK – Jackie Kennedy once said, “Pearls are, indeed always appropriate” – though she didn’t mean just for celebrities, queens and first ladies. Every woman deserves to wear pearls. Everyone will have the opportunity to acquire them at a Jasper52 online auction devoted to the queen of gems on Tuesday, Feb. 27. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

The auction consists of more than 160 lots of pearl necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings.

Expected to bring the highest bid overall – up to $6,000 – is an 18-inch-long strand of top quality Tahitian South Sea pearls (above) of natural peacock colors. Each of the 33 round pearls measures 13 to 14 millimeters.

Sixty-seven Akoya pearls make up a 20-inch long necklace that has a 14K yellow gold clasp with diamond accents (below). Its round pearls measure about 7 millimeters in diameter.

Akoya pearls were also used in the design of a 14K gold and blue enamel bracelet, which is expected to sell for $1,100-$1,200.

A 14K yellow gold bracelet that has a sand-blasted finish and studded with 42 Akoya pearls has a $1,300-$1,500 estimate.

South Sea pearls of brilliant white from the pinctata maxima pearl oyster are featured in a pair of diamond earrings set in 18K white gold. The pair has 58 round diamonds totaling 0.52 carats.

Several more lots of cultured pearls are offered at attractive price points. One is a 36-inch-long strand of natural multicolored freshwater pearls or high orient and luster (est. $625-$725).
