LOS ANGELES – Andrew Jones Auctions’ first DTLA Collections & Estates Auction of the year, on Sunday, Jan. 20, will feature a large selection of over 500 lots of market-fresh furnishings, decorations and accessories, including fine art, antiques, design, Asian works of art, estate jewelry and fine silver from several local collections and estates. The auction will start at 10:30 a.m. Pacific time. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

The sale will be held in Andrew Jones Auctions’ roomy gallery at 2221 S. Main St. in downtown Los Angeles. “We’re offering a wide-ranging collection to kick off 2019,” said company president Andrew Jones. “We’re selling everything including the kitchen oven, but what an oven!” He was referring to the spectacular La Cornue Grand Palais Château Series custom range (below) that has an estimate of $4,000-$6,000.

Featured will be property from Jeffrey and Eva Petersen, the Ruth Schreiber estate, the collection of Fima Ruchman, and private collections out of Ojai, Calif., and Southampton, N.Y., together with a collection of furniture and decorative arts consigned by a distinguished Los Angeles collector and interior decorator that boasts an array of seat furniture pieces.

Vintage toys will include a large Steiff leopard (est. $200-$300) and a Garton ‘Kidillac’ child’s pedal car (est. $100-$200). Design lots will feature a set of four Petal tables after Richard Schultz for Knoll (est. $300-$500), and an Hermès Art Deco table clock (est. $2,000-$3,000).

The furnishings section will include an American Classical sideboard (est. $700-$900), a French walnut and Vernis Martin vitrine (est. $800-$1,200) and a Rococo-style gilt metal and rock crystal chandelier (est. $800-$1,200). Also sold will be a nice Brunswick pool table (est. $1,000-$1,500).

Items on offer in the fine silver section will include a Towle King Richard pattern sterling silver flatware service for eight (est. $600-$800), a pair of George III sterling silver waiters by Crouch & Hannam, 1792 (est. $500-$700) and a 1911 George V sterling silver mantel clock by W. & G. Neal.

The antiquities category will include two Gnathia black glazed bottle vases (est. $500-$800) and a Greek red figure askos (est. $700-$900).

A large group of Asian works of art will include Chinese jades (est. $800-$1,200), a Ming Dynasty Cizhouware figure of a boy (est. $500-$700), Thai gilt copper alloy devotional figures (est. $200-$800) and fine Japanese lacquerware (est. $400-$600).

Estate jewelry offerings will be led by collections of gold watches, cufflinks, brooches, antique writing and smoking accessories and other baubles, such as a group of gold charms and bracelets (est. $1,500-$2,500) and a gold diamond and pearl pendant necklace expected to bring $300-$500.

Herend porcelain will include Rothschild Bird and Chinese Bouquet tableware (est. $400-$800), a set of Blue Garden pots-de-crème (est. $500-$700) and animal figures (est. $600-$800), and a Meissen Blue Onion part tea service (est. $600-$800). Baccarat and Lalique glass will also be sold.

A varied selection of fine art will include an Emile Gaugin, the son of Post-Impressionist Paul Gaugin, oil on canvas of a Hut with Palms (est. $300-$500), an Albert de Rome watercolor of a lagoon in Humboldt County, California (est. $500-$700), a Reuven Rubin Godseekers portfolio (est. $500-$700), and a Pamela Simon mixed media diptych from Simon’s The Wall Series (est. $800-$1,200).
