LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. – Rago will hold an auction of 19th/20th century American and European art and postwar/contemporary art on Saturday, May 5. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

“Our American and European art auction is well provided with strong and fresh-to-market offerings. A personal favorite is Winslow Homer’s The Dutch Door, which comes to us from a private collection where it has been held for the last 60-plus years,” said Lauren Bradley, Rago’s fine art specialist.

“We are thrilled to represent so many compelling artists from the 20th century. From Gorky to Warhol, this sale gives collectors access to works that have been held privately for decades,” said Meredith Hilferty, Rago’s director of fine art.

Another screenprint by an American Pop Art master is titled Paint Cans by Wayne Thiebaud ( b. 1920), who is widely known for his colorful works depicting commonplace objects.

Included among the 500-plus lots of paintings, prints, sculptures and works on paper for sale, also is a sequenced sale of some 30 works from the personal collection of celebrated art critic, dealer and collector Clara Diament Sujo. Titled “Presencia de lo Humano” (Human Presence), this session attests to Clara Sujo’s exquisite taste, with works from Luis Martínez Pedro, Alirio Rodriguez, Antonio Seguí, Luis Fernando Benedit (below), Manuel Espinoza and other modern and contemporary artists from Latin America.
