NEW YORK – Antique Carpets Online and Apadana Inc. will offer an outstanding lineup of 160 antique and modern rugs at an auction beginning at noon Dec. 16. LiveAuctioneers.com will provide Internet live bidding.

Antique Carpets Online specializes in 19th- and 20th-century one-of-a-kind handmade decorative rugs from Iran, Europe, Russia, Turkey, India and elsewhere.

This is an absolute auction; there are no reserves.

An antique Serapi rug, 13 feet by 18 feet 2 inches, with a medallion and geometric design in predominantly rust color, will sell during the first hour of the auction. It has a $60,000-$90,000 estimate.

Prospective buyers will raise their sights considerably when bidding opens on an antique Lavar Kerman rug, 16 feet 9 inches by 23 feet 1 inch. With a medallion and floral design in ivory, this outstanding rug has a $180,000-$220,000 estimate.

Another big-ticket rug is an antique Ziegler Sultanbad, 13 feet 6 inches by 16 feet 1 inch, which has an allover geometric design in ivory. It has a $160,000-$200,000 estimate.

A 14- by 20-foot antique Bakhtiari rug with an allover geometric design is one of many lots in the $40,000-$60,000 estimate range.

An antique Chinese Art Deco rug, 10 feet 4 inches by 19 feet 2 inches, on a deep blue field is estimated at $16,000-$24,000.
