Antique dealer’s superb lifetime collection to be auctioned Aug. 31

ABINGDON, Va. – On Friday, August 31, A-OK Auction Gallery will offer the personal collection of fine antiques, furniture and decorative art carefully amassed over a lifetime by a retired South Florida antique dealer. The auction will commence at 5 p.m. Eastern Time, and absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.
A collection of great quality, it includes more than 20 Persian hand-knotted rugs, a Dutch tall-case clock, a large pine wine cellar, and a coveted Wooten Renaissance Revival desk, shown below.

There are many incredible framed tapestries and 18th-century oil paintings, blackamoor statues, and a monumental French Louis XVI gilt-bronze mounted kingwood meuble a hauteur d’ appui. The latter piece, after Andre Charles Boulle by Joseph Emmanuel Zweiner, was made around 1880. It stands 60 inches wide and 59.5 inches high. A similar example created by Boulle is held in the collection of the Musee du Louvre in Paris. A-OK has placed an $80,000-$120,000 estimate on the Zweiner cabinet.

High-quality Asian art is another of the collection’s featured categories. There are Chinese jade statues, 18th- and 19th-century Chinese porcelain vases and figurines; and Chinese silk artworks.
