NEW YORK – Bold and beautiful jewelry designs of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco eras are featured in a Jasper52 online auction that will be conducted Wednesday, Oct. 10. Antique gold and platinum rings, brooches, pendants and necklaces, many of them adorned with gemstones, comprise this glittering 87-lot auction. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

The auction will kick off with a unique piece – an 18K gold and platinum brooch in the form of a winged insect that is laden with diamonds, rubies, sapphires and a large cabochon cat’s-eye, a semi-transparent stone of the chrysoberyl family. The brooch weighs 11.3 grams and measures 1¼ inches high. This brooch is in excellent condition and traces its provenance to Margaret Elmendorf Sloan (1822-1913) of New York City by descent in the family to the last owner.

An excellent example of Art Nouveau is an 18K yellow gold portrait brooch (below) depicting a Gibson Girl wearing a choker composed of four old cut diamonds. This beauty is framed in a crescent moon with 24 pearls The brooch measures 1 1/8 inches from top to bottom.

A spectacular diamond and emerald ring in the auction is the essence of Art Deco. This beautiful ring in mint condition features a 1.03-carat center diamond, which is complemented by 48 additional diamonds for a total diamond weight of 2.63 carats and four rows of emeralds bordering the center of the ring. There is a beautiful handmade scroll design along the underside of the ring.

Ninety-seven brilliant diamonds totaling 3.5 carats adorn a 950 fine platinum brooch that is offered in the auction. Its three center diamonds are .40 carat each. The brooch measures nearly 2 inches long by about three-quarters of an inch high.

A single accent diamond is set in the mouth of a finely modeled griffin that forms the central design of an 18K gold pendant brooch. Bearing French marks this piece is 1 5/8 inches high by 1 7/8 inches wide.

Two dozen sapphires surround a 1.4-carat old European cut diamond in a 995 platinum filigree gallery ring. The sapphires and the way the ring is set give it the appearance of a 2½-carat diamond. The gorgeous ring in excellent condition.

The Jasper52 auction of Art Nouveau and Art Deco fine jewelry will begin Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
