NEW YORK – Heirloom jewelry carries its own unique magic. Even if a given piece is not to your taste, it’s hard to deny the romance of knowing that your grandmother wore these glamorous Colombian emerald drop earrings, or your great-great grandfather proposed to his bride with this five-carat diamond ring, or the eldest daughter in your mother’s line has worn the princess-length ruby necklace you’re holding for six generations and counting.

On August 10, starting at 5 pm Eastern time, Jasper52 will host a Stunning Antique Jewelry Collection sale. You’re almost certain to find something you’ll like among the 91 lots of rings, brooches, bracelets, earrings, and necklaces. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.

First among the highlights of the August 10 auction is a handmade size 7 1/2 Art Deco diamond ring, fashioned from platinum and 18K gold. Its design places an 0.40-carat old mine-cut diamond at the center and surrounds it with eight additional old mine-cut diamonds with a collective carat weight of 0.46 carats; four rose-cut diamonds that together weigh 0.10 carats; and four natural calibrated-cut sapphires with a carat weight of 0.30. The Art Deco ring carries an estimate of $1,500-$2,000.

The final highlight might be the most spectacular and stunning of the three: A platinum diamond and sapphire ring that takes the form of a blossom. It showcases a one-carat old mine-cut diamond, placing it among 20 natural-cut French sapphires and 36 additional old mine-cut diamonds with a collective carat weight of 0.50. The ring is size 7 1/4, but it can be resized for a nominal fee. It carries an estimate of $7,000-$8,000.
