VIENNA – AIC Gallery will present an eclectic fine art auction in two parts on March 1. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.
The first part of this 115-lot sale is composed of a fine art collection by Austrian and international artists. AIC offers a selection of such famous Austrian artists as Arnulf Rainer, Markus Prachensky, Hermann Nitsch and Hans Bischoffshausen as well as international artists like Victor Vasarely, Christo and Bernard Aubertin.
The second part is an estate auction of the Philippine collector Herminio Decker, which is composed of beautiful works by Filipino artists as well as antiques and artifacts.
A half dozen works in the sale are by Vienna artist Markus Prachensky (b. 1932), including a colorful ink on paper titled Umbria (above). This abstract composition measures 25.6 by 22.4 inches and is estimated at €10,500-€12,500.
Another six works are by Austrian artist Arnulf Rainer (b. 1929), including a dry-point etching titled Spanisches Kreuz (below), which carries an estimate of €1,700-€1,900.
Topping the list of Philippine art is a pencil drawing titled Harvest by Fernando Amorsolo, (1892-1972), one of the most important artists in the history of that country. Amorsolo was a noted portraitist and painter of rural Philippine landscapes. The image measures 9.4 by 7.4 inches and is estimated at €2,500-€3,000.
A large painting titled Mango Vendor, dated 1875 and bearing an illegible signature, is offered with a €3,000-€4,000 estimate.
A dramatic large oil on canvas titled Torero (Bullfighter) by Enrico Zablan is expected to sell for €600-€800.
Philippine artifacts in the sale several swords, two wooden sculptures and a Punamhan ritual box.
