WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Auction Life will stage a two-day, two-session auction on May 18 and 19. The May 18 sale is titled Antiques, Oddities, Artifacts, Objects & Decor; the May 19 sale bears the whimsical moniker Perfumemania, Miscentllaneous, Bottle & Factice. Absentee and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.
The May 18 session features almost 400 lots of antiques, artifacts, art, collectibles, jewelry, sculptures, coins, furniture, and objects of decor. Several could claim top lot honors. One keen contender is a late 18th century Italian walnut table crafted in the 16th century style, heavily carved all over with Renaissance stylized foliage and grotesques. The table, which weighs 80 pounds, is expected to bring $6,000-$12,000.
A stunning 14K white gold and diamond tennis necklace, 16 inches long and weighing 26.3 grams, carries an estimate of $5,000-$10,000. The necklace boasts 119 round diamonds and a total weight of eight carats.
An early 18th century oil on canvas religious painting by an unknown Mexican artist, titled Jesus’s Agony at the Gethsemane, is estimated at $4,000-$8,000.
A Pre-Columbian standing female effigy figure made in western Mexico between the years 400 and 600, is estimated at $700-$2,100. The Jalisco culture effigy, pulled from a Palm Beach estate, weighs a little more than three pounds and is adorned with a head wrap, earrings, and decorative geometric circles attached to her shoulders.
The 208-lot May 19 session will be dedicated to perfumes and factice bottles, and will feature all the major perfume manufacturers. Leading the choices will be a limited edition Lalique for Caron vintage parfum in an Art Nouveau perfume bottle, full and sealed in its original black velvet accordion-style presentation display box. It is estimated at $100-$1,000.
Other selections include a circa-1958 Lancome Magie moon face perfume bottle with an opalescent Sputnik perfume flacon design, one of only 100 made, estimated at $100-$1,000; a Caron L’Infiniti perfume in a corded and sealed bottle in its original presentation box, estimated at $100-$500; a Baccarat Ybry Femme de Paris Perfume Flacon 2 in a jade-colored crystal bottle with an amber stopper and the original presentation box, estimated at $100-$500; and a Roger & Gallet Le Oeillet Bleu Blue Carnation perfume, corded and sealed, estimated at $100-$500.
