Billy Al Bengston watercolor featured at Showplace auction Dec. 2

NEW YORK – On Sunday, Dec. 2, Showplace will auction of 320 items of fine and decorative arts, furniture, lighting and more. The top lots are a Billy Al Bengston Venice watercolor on paper (above) and Jasper Johns Good Time Charley lithograph. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

Jewelry and silver will offer 14K ruby, emerald and diamond earrings, an emerald and diamond tennis bracelet, an Omega Geneve bracelet wristwatch and an 18K Carrera y Carrera diamond-set horse necklace (below).

Silver is highlighted by a Tiffany English King flatware service, a Reed & Barton Hampton Court tea service, a pair of Georg Jensen Danish Modern candlesticks, a Redlich & Co. water pitcher, a Black Starr & Frost centerpiece footed bowl, and pair of Judaica Shabbat candlesticks.

Furniture includes mid-century modern pieces such as a Paul Frankl Station Wagon dresser and a pair of nightstands, a Robsjohn-Gibbings for Widdicomb executive desk (below), a Poul Kjaerholm for Fritz Hansen PK stool, an Edward Wormley for Dunbar credenza, and a set of eight Harvey Probber Scissor chairs.

Porcelain, pottery, and crystal/glass will feature a Guido Gambone Italy mid-century pottery vase (below), a Joseph Mougin Art Deco earthenware vase, Salviati Murano dolphin stem water, liquor and wine glasses, Stuart & Sons Cairngorm tall and low vases, a Lalique opaline crystal Nemours bowl, a Steuben elephant trio by Paul Schultz, a Mona Morales-Schildt for Kosta Boda Ventana vase, and a Loetz Art Nouveau iridescent pinched glass vase.

Fine art offerings on display incorporate the aforementioned Billy Al Bengston Venice watercolor on paper and Jasper Johns Good Time Charley lithograph (below), an Enrico Donati Hailstone series Head oil on canvas, a Gilbert Davis Munger oil on canvas of a Venetian scene, a Peter Chinni abstract bronze sculpture, and a Tom Burrows polymer resin panel.

Chinese antiques include a Qing blue and white snuff bottle with amber stopper, Qing Kangxi porcelain fish bowl jardinière and Yixing a gourd-form calligraphic teapot.

Miscellaneous lots will include a rare Mario Fortuny Venice micro-pleat pink silk Peplos gown, circa 1910, a pair of Ary Bitter bronze elephant bookends, Cedric Hartman mid-century modern floor lamp, and an Italian pietra dura plaque of a Tuscan village scene.
