CLEARWATER, Fla. – Blackwell Auctions LLC will conduct its monthly Exceptional Estates auction on Saturday, Feb. 11. Absente and Internet live bidding will be available through LiveAuctioneers.
One highlight of the auction is a Gorham Martele bonbon dish (above), circa 1905. Because Martele pieces come up for auction infrequently, this 11-inch-long sterling silver dish is expected to sell for $4,000-$5,000.
Blackwell Auctions will also be selling several pieces of a collection of Russian silver, including an enameled 84 silver box and a filigree silver box. The same estate yielded some Russian gold coins and a bronze polyptych icon, all of which are in this sale.
Several antique maps, dating from the 1600s to 1700s, all hand-colored, are in the auction, including a rare map of the southern U.S., central America and part of South American (below), as well as a 1790 folding street map of St. Petersburg, Russia.
A unique item in the sale is a 60-inch Star Wars Death Star model, which was custom-made for boy band NSYNC member Joey Fatone. The two-piece model (below) was used as a projector housing, mounted to the ceiling of his home theater.
Those are only a few of the 300 items in the sale. Also included painting and prints by listed artists, furniture and lighting ranging from the 1700s to midcentury modern, and jewelry and watches by Rolex (below), Tiffany and David Yurman.
A rare Baccarat art glass Liberty Bell sculpture weighing over 30 pounds, numbered 15 of only 50 pieces ever made, is in excellent condition and has a $600-$900 estimate.
