BIRMINGHAM, UK – Fellows’ monthly auction of Antique & Modern Jewelry contains over 600 lots of designer pieces alongside interesting antique and modern jewels. Featured in the March 10 auction is lot 232, a ruby and diamond ring valued at £12,000-£18,000. The central cushion cut ruby has a certificate confirming that the stone is of Burmese origin with no evidence of heat treatment.
Georgina Kettle, jewelry specialist at Fellows said, “This is a truly special piece. Considering there is no heat treatment it is such a beautifully well saturated shade of red.”
Lot 135 is a 2-carat diamond solitaire ring (below). This diamond is certified as G colour, VVS2 clarity and has a guide price of £10,000-15,000. Lot 61 is also noteworthy a pendant showcasing a 29.50ct tanzanite highlighted with three diamonds and estimated at £2,500-£3,000.
A notable item in Fellows’ selection of mourning jewelry is lot 9. The Georgian gold ivory and enamel mourning ring has an estimate of £400-£600 and was commissioned upon the death of Peter Ramsey, who was registered as chancery and clerk of the patents in the late 1700s in Jamaica. The ring has marquise-shape ivory, with sepia monogram “PR,” suspended from a garland swag, to the white enamel and script band “Peter Ramsey Ob: 27 Oct 1781 Ae 48.”
