NEW YORK – New York’s Capo Auction Fine Art and Antiques in Long Island City is celebrating their fifth anniversary this month, by presenting their “Five Year Anniversary Auction” on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. Eastern. LiveAuctioneers.com will provide absentee and Internet live bidding.
Taking the spotlight at Capo Auction’s auction this month is a collection of unusual antique Spanish furniture, a Steinway rosewood piano, a Panthere de Cartier ring and a fine selection of contemporary art, bronze, decorative items and jewelry.
Already getting much attention are a Spanish vargueno, circa 1900, in two parts, 65 inches high, (estimate: $6,000-$8,000), and a Moorish-style Spanish marquetry mirror, circa 1900, 81 inches high, on an inlaid base (estimate: $5,000-$7,000).
Jewelry pieces getting a lot of attention include a highly desirable Panthere de Cartier ring (below) of 18K white gold and diamonds with green tsavorite garnet eyes and onyx nose. Signed, with French hallmarks, the size 6 ring is expected to sell for $28,000-$32,000.
A Seaman Schepps earrings and ring set (below) of carved turquoise and 14K yellow gold rope decoration is estimated at $5,000-$7,000.
A beautiful Steinway rosewood piano, probably late 19th century, having 85 keys, is also being offered and carries a $6,000-$8,000 estimate.
In the fine and contemporary art arena this month, Capo Auction is featuring a Marcel Rieder (French, 1851–1925) untitled oil on canvas painting (below). The frame measures 51.5 by 45 inches, and the signed painting is estimated at $6,000-$8,000.
