Capo Auction features unique jewelry by award-winning designer June 24

NEW YORK – Capo Auction Fine Art and Antiques will present their first auction of the summer season on Saturday, June 24, at 11 a.m. Eastern time. The auction of more 650 lots features select jewelry by award-winning designer/artist Davina Romansky, along with a diverse selection of decorative items, antique and modern furniture, bronze, silver and fine art. Absentee and Internet bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.


Unique jewelry pieces by Romansky will be in the spotlight at Capo Auction. This selection includes a sterling silver necklace called “Cascading” (above). Having won the prestigious Niche Award (silver category) and being a Saul Bell Design Award finalist (silver category), this piece is one of only two produced. The other “Cascading” necklace is part of Burchfield Penney Art Museum’s permanent collection. This piece was also published in Best of American Jewelry Artists Volume 2, Niche Magazine and Rochester Magazine, and is one of only 38 jewelry pieces chosen for Midwest Metalsmith’s Metal Inclinations 2 exhibit. The necklace has a $2,750-$3,250 estimate.

Another masterpiece by Romansky is a gold, sterling silver and black diamond cuff, of fine silver, 18K bi-metal, 18K gold settings and black diamonds (est. $2,000-$2,500). This piece was featured in numerous jewelry books.

A wide selection of decorative items includes an Italian gilt wood mirror (below), 39 inches high by 29 inches wide (est. $1,500-$2,500), and a grand tour bronze figure of a Satyr – Satiro con Otre (Satyr with Goatskin), late 19th/early 20th century, after the antique discovered in Pompeii (est. $2,000-$3,000), and a 19th-century Italian gilt wood chandelier with nine scrolled arms, three of them decorated with a Theban sphinxes (est. $2,000-$3,000).

Art glass is highlighted by a pair of 12 1/2-inch high Loetz vases (est. $ 800-$1,200.

Furniture in this month’s sale is a stunning pair of English Regency mahogany cabinets, circa 1810, each with rectangular top over two brass trimmed doors flanked by carved Egyptian heads (est. $2,500-$3,000).

Additional lots are an Art Deco Asprey malachite desk clock, (est. $400-$600); a pair of large 19th-century of carved wood putti, each parcel gilt and painted (est. value $800-$1,200); and an eight-light gilt metal and cut glass chandelier, 42 inches high by 27 inches wide (est. $600-$800).
