Capsule Auctions presents array of fine art Jan. 21
NEW YORK – Capsule presents LX: First Light, featuring traditional and contemporary fine art, editions, glass and sculpture from New York estates and collections. The auction will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21. Bid absentee or live online through LiveAuctioneers.
This sale includes two works by Clara Klinghoffer, directly from the artist’s estate (above). Klinghoffer was known as “the girl who could draw like Raphael.” Lot 27, Portrait of Melody (1959) features a young seated African American girl.
Capsule will offer a new selection of artworks by Robert Bliss (above). The success of Bliss’s results in Capsule’s previous sales reflects the growing interest and value of his artworks. Bliss is appreciated for his suggestive portraits of male youths and also seascapes. His palette includes rich earth tones and vibrant blue hues, capturing light in dream-like compositions.
The sale concludes with a selection of artists from the collection of a fourth-generation New York art gallery offer scenes of mountain vistas, seasonal town squares, European coasts, rivers and canals.
