CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Estate Auctions will present the Holiday Auction – a live online auction to be held on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m. in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The auction offers notable and rare items from well-known Charleston, Manhattan and other Southern Collections. Absentee and Internet bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

The event is highlighted by rare personal correspondence from Carrie Fisher, a 1915 Martin guitar, a David Hockney limited-edition lithograph from 1973, a large antique diamond necklace, as well as, other original artwork, fine antique furniture, coins and paper money, designer accessories and a large number of Holiday gift lots. items within the US.

Lot 109 consists of an incredible group of seven postcards and two greeting cards (above) all handwritten by Carrie Fisher to her brother-in-law Ed Simon and his wife, Rose, with whom she remained good friends for all of her life. Many are from her various travels and all reflect Carrie Fisher’s wonderful sense of humor.
The David Hockney lithograph is from 1973 and titled Chair 38 Colony Malibu. It is on Amgoumois handmade paper, signed, titled and dated in red crayon by the artist. It is numbered 27/60 and published by Gemini G.E.L., Los Angeles, with their blind stamp and copyright ink stamp on the reverse.

The diamond necklace is 18K white gold and platinum. It has a stunning pendant at the center of a “diamonds by the yard”-style chain. The chain features 10 bezel-set round brilliant-cut diamonds set on a cable chain. The center pendant has an art deco design with a large 2.65-carat old European-cut diamond as the center stone.

The Martin guitar is a model 1-21 from 1915, one of only 10 ever made, according to company records. It has a cedar top with mahogany back and sides.
