Carstens Galleries variety auction to feature jadeite, fine art Dec. 29
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Carstens Galleries is having its variety auction of art, antiques and a jadeite collection on Dec. 29 at 3 p.m. Eastern time. Live and absentee bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.
The auction features six outstanding jadeite sculptures including a 22-inch-high caved basket (above).
More than 50 paintings are offered in the auction. Coming up early in the sale is an oil on panel (below) by French artist Jules Dupre, one of the chief members of the Barbizon school of landscape painters.
Another fine art highlight is an acrylic on board by Brazilian Maurício Nogueira Lima (1930-1999), an architect, plastic artist, designer and professor. He began his work in figurative painting and throughout his life he went through Pop Art, Constructivism, Concretism and finally dedicated himself to geometric art.
In 1933, Carlo Mario Camusso established a small silversmith workshop in Lima, Peru, which gained international renown. Lot 75 in the auction catalog is a pair of sterling and cut glass swans by Camusso Silversmiths.
The auction will also offer porcelain, bronzes, lighting and additional decorative arts.
