NEW YORK – New York’s Capo Auction Fine Art and Antiques in Long Island City will present their first summer auction on Saturday, June 27, at 11 a.m. with a select group of jewelry, decorative items, antique furniture and fine art sharing the spotlight. An item already getting much attention is a Panthere de Cartier diamond and platinum women’s panther ring, pave set with round diamonds, accented with emerald eyes, a black onyx nose, and articulated front feet and head. The size 6 1/2 ring is estimated at $40,000-$60,000.
Also noteworthy is a monumental Balthazard boule bracket clock, late 19th/early 20th century, signed Balthazard Paris. It features a gong striking mechanism, cartouche-shaped boulle case surmounted by an angel with a horn. It stands 57 1/2 inches high and is estimated at $12,000-$16,000. An important long case clock, circa 1740, by John Wood of Philadelphia, is estimated at $8,000-$12,000. It has a mahogany case that stands 7 feet 10 inches tall.
An Arturo Di Modica (Italian/American, b.1941) chromed metal sculpture titled Two Horses, ’89 is expected to do well. Signed, dated and numbered 1/10, the 36-inch-tall work is on a black marble base and has a $6,000-$9,000 estimate.
In the furniture arena, Capo Auction is offering a Louis XV marble-top commode with a rouge marble top is estimated at $12,000-16,000.
There will also be an impressive assortment of fine art, decorative items, jewelry, silver and other furniture from multiple estates.
