ENNIS, Texas – Champion Auctioneers Inc. will sell more than 300 lots of rare and valuable Western genre art and collectibles without reserve on Saturday, Sept. 16. Absentee and Internet live bidding for the Echo Ranch Gallery Auction is available through LiveAuctioneers.

“I’ve been a full-time auctioneer for 20 years, and have never seen a collection this extensive, and diverse,” noted Kate Phillips of Champion Auctioneers Inc.

One of the many highlights is an oil on board painting titled A Quick Withdraw by John Leone, which depicts a bank robbery in an Old West town. The late artist is renowned for his historical paintings of horses and cowboys. The framed painting measures 34 1/2 inches by 49 inches.

The era of Saturday matinees at the Bijou is recalled in several dozen cowboy movie posters, including a film starring Tex Ritter.
