Charleston Estate Auctions offerings Feb. 5 include Corning connection

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Charleston Estate Auctions will present a live online auction on Feb. 5 at 1 p.m. Eastern Time. The auction features items from descendants of the Corning Glass Co., a published D.C. interior designer, Charleston estates, as well as other Southern estates. Absentee and Internet live bidding is available through LiveAuctioneers.

Highlights include an array of European and American fine art, antique and fine furniture, exceptional glass, sterling silver hollowware and collectibles, and many other rare and unique items.

From descendants of Corning Glass comes a scarce Paul J. Stankard (American, b. 1943) trout lily paperweight. The glass paperweight features realistic yellow trout lily and roots is dated 1982. Included is a first edition of the book Flora in Glass, which pictures a trout lily paperweight on page 43.

An original William Melton Halsey (1915-1999) oil abstract titled Sunflowers (below) is estimated at $4,500-$7,000. The painting, which measures 18 by 24.5 inches (sight), belonged to Pollie Lacour Singletary, a student of the artist.

An early to mid-20th century Italian 800 silver coffee and tea service, in the manner of the Settecento taste, consists of a coffeepot, teapot, open sugar bowl and cream jug. The heavy, ornate set weighs 2605 grams.

An additional highlight is an ARS Murano contemporary modern Murano glass sculpture titled Sunrise, signed by the artist, Roberto Cammozzo. ARS Murano was founded in 1982 by Roberto Cammozzo, Elio Raffaeli and Renzo Vianello. Sure to be a focal point in any room, the glass sculpture measures 10 by 10 by 4 inches.

Other standouts include a ladies 14K white gold emerald and diamond ring, a pair of 20th century Cartier sterling silver candlesticks, a Debora Moore tall glass sculpture of orchids in a vase, and a mid-19th century Louis XVI-style mahogany writing desk.
